FINISH

Prime Grade Oak Herringbone

Dyfed Richards provided over 300 square metres of flooring at this prestigious Chelsea townhouse on Kings Road.

The timber is a prime grade herringbone Oak block with a Wenge border. To begin we sanded the floor progressively from a 60-grit up to a 120-grit finish. It was then filled at the 100-grit stage before it had its final sand at 120-grit using a 4 headed sander which gives a perfectly smooth finish.

We used 1 coat of primer and 3 top coats which were denibbed between each coat. For the finish, we used a Polyurethane finish called Bona Traffic, which is a superior commercial tough wearing finish. You can see from the images that there was some intricate laying of the borders.
