Walworth Town Hall
South London
This extensive 16-month project encompassed the meticulous restoration and installation of over 2,350m² of timber flooring across multiple levels.
Restoration Works:
We uplifted, cleaned, and reinstalled 1,500m² of original Burmese teak blocks over four floors, preserving the building's historical character. An additional 500m² of pine planks were carefully repaired using reclaimed materials to match the existing flooring seamlessly. Furthermore, 350m² of pitch pine blocks were selectively uplifted, cleaned and reinstalled to maintain continuity throughout the space. Walworth Town Hall
New Installations:
Our team installed 1,500m² of unfinished select grade oak herringbone blocks (280mm x 70mm x 15mm), which were sanded and finished on-site with Bona Craft Oil and Traffic HD Lacquer, achieving a durable and elegant finish. Additionally, we laid 500m² of new oak planks - 300m² of 260mm x 20mm and 200m² of 180mm x 15mm select grade white oiled oak planks - enhancing the building's aesthetic appeal.
Subfloor Preparation:
Comprehensive subfloor preparations were undertaken throughout the building, including latexing, feather finish levelling compound and plywood works, ensuring a stable and level base for all flooring installations.
Project Execution:
With a dedicated team of 5–8 operatives on-site daily, we managed the phased opening of areas efficiently, delivering high-quality workmanship while minimising disruption.
This project exemplifies our commitment to blending traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, delivering bespoke flooring solutions tailored to our clients' visions.
